If you use 500px then you have probably noticed that the team has been hard at work rolling out new features to their website in the past year. We have seen changes like a new Flow page and a new Photo page but now they up to something again…a new Profile page.
The new page is sure to attract a lot of attention with an almost complete redesign. Brand new to top of the Profile page is one of the artist’s photo used as background to the artist’s vital information dangerously similar to a Google+ profile page. Still the artist’s profile pic sits at the left side of the page although now accompanied by Affection, Views, and Followers and social media links. And now directly below sits a number of new links not before seen including: About, Flow, Photos, Sets, Stories, Favorites, Store and Portfolio. Once you have navigated your way down through the artist’s photographic history on 500px you will finally find yourself at their photos. For the most part the photo section looks about the same as before with the exception of a Sets menu cascading down the right hand side of the page.
These new changes have only been rolled out to a select few at the time of this writing with what seems like no set date to be rolled out to the rest of the masses. The changes will be sure to create a commotion both good and bad as there is already a support question on 500px asking if there is a way to revert back to the old style. I think the changes look very good giving 500px a more professional edge and try to keep up with all the other social media sites as they move to very similar designs.
